The 8700s group was a group with three different locomotive models, from three different manufacturers: GMD GP9 (#8700-8708), fitted with the 567, 2-cycle engine; CLCs H16-44 (#8709-8728), with the 2-cycle 'opposed piston' engine, good for 1,600 Hp; and MLW RS-18 units (#8729-8799), with a 251 V12 engine generating 1,800 Hp.
